Hostinger's Premium plan costs $2.99 a month on a 48-month term and renews at $10.99. If the renewal is what bothers you, three shared hosts cost less over five years: netcup Webhosting 1000 at a flat $2.53 a month (€2.26), OVHcloud Personal at $2.23 rising to $4.47, and Namecheap Stellar at $1.87 rising to $4.29. For a VPS, OVHcloud's VPS-2 matches Hostinger's KVM 2 on RAM for $9.51 a month with no contract and no price jump.
We checked these prices on 11 October 2026. Everything below comes from the same data that feeds our comparison pages.
What you are comparing against
Hostinger's prices depend heavily on the term you pick. These are its website plans:
| Hostinger plan | 48-month price | Renews at | Paid monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium (3 sites, 20 GB) | $2.99 | $10.99 | $11.99 |
| Unlimited (50 GB) | $3.99 | $16.99 | $18.99 |
| Cloud Startup (100 GB) | $7.99 | $25.99 | $27.99 |
The first four years are a good deal, and Hostinger includes a free domain for the first year, SSL, backups and email on these plans. The bill changes at renewal: Premium costs 3.7 times as much, Unlimited 4.3 times. There is more detail in our Hostinger renewal guide.
Shared hosting alternatives, ranked by five-year cost
To compare fairly we added up five years: the longest intro term each host offers, then renewals at the listed rate.
| Plan | Intro price | Renews at | Five-year cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| netcup Webhosting 1000 | $2.53 (€2.26), 12 months | Same price | $152 |
| OVHcloud Personal | $2.23 (€1.99), 48 months | $4.47 (€3.99) | $161 |
| DreamHost Launch | $1.99, 48 months | $7.99 | $191 |
| Namecheap Stellar | $1.87, 24 months | $4.29 | $199 |
| Hostinger Premium | $2.99, 48 months | $10.99 | $275 |
| IONOS Plus | $1.00, 12 months | $14.00 | $684 |
IONOS is in the table as a warning. Its $1 first year is the lowest intro price we track, and its $14 renewal makes it the most expensive of the six over five years.
netcup Webhosting 1000: the price never moves
netcup charges €2.26 a month on a 12-month contract and the same again at renewal. You get 50 GB of storage, 100 email accounts, SSL and a domain. netcup is a German host and lists no site-migration service in our data, so it suits people who are comfortable moving a site themselves.
Namecheap Stellar: closest to Hostinger Premium
Stellar is the nearest like-for-like swap: 3 websites, 20 GB of storage, a free domain, SSL and 30 email accounts, with a 30-day refund window like Hostinger's. It costs $1.87 a month on a 24-month term and renews at $4.29, less than half of Hostinger's renewal. The one thing Premium has that Stellar lacks in our data is backups; those start with Stellar Plus ($2.25 a month for 24 months, renewing at $6.10). Compare them side by side on Hostinger vs Namecheap.
DreamHost Launch: more sites, no email
DreamHost's Launch plan hosts 25 sites on 25 GB for $1.99 a month over 48 months and renews at $7.99. It includes a domain, SSL, backups and migration. Email accounts are not included on Launch, which matters if you were counting on Hostinger's free mailboxes.
InterServer Standard: no contract at all
InterServer's Standard plan is $2.50 a month paid monthly, with unlimited sites, storage and email, and it renews at $7.00. That is still under Hostinger's $10.99, and you never have to prepay years in advance. See how InterServer compares.
VPS alternatives to Hostinger KVM
Hostinger's VPS prices follow the same pattern as its shared plans:
| Hostinger VPS | 24-month price | Renews at | Paid monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| KVM 1 (1 vCPU, 4 GB) | $6.49 | $11.99 | $9.99, then $19.49 |
| KVM 2 (2 vCPU, 8 GB) | $8.99 | $14.99 | $13.99, then $24.49 |
| KVM 4 (4 vCPU, 16 GB) | $12.99 | $28.99 | $25.99, then $42.99 |
For 8 GB of RAM, these cost less than KVM 2 once it renews, and none of them needs a two-year commitment:
| Plan | vCPU | RAM | Storage | Price per month | Renewal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Contabo Cloud VPS 4 SSD | 4 | 8 GB | 100 GB SSD | $6.16 (€5.50) | Same price |
| OVHcloud VPS-2 | 4 | 8 GB | 75 GB NVMe | $9.51 (€8.49) | Same price |
| Hetzner Cloud CX33 | 4 | 8 GB | 80 GB NVMe | $10.07 (€8.99) | Same price |
| InterServer Linux VPS 4 Slices | 2 | 8 GB | 160 GB SSD | $12.00 | Same price |
| Hostinger KVM 2 | 2 | 8 GB | 100 GB NVMe | $8.99 for 24 months | $14.99 |
Contabo is the cheapest by a wide margin. Contabo, OVHcloud and Hetzner each give you 4 vCPUs, twice what KVM 2 has. OVHcloud includes backups on VPS-2 in our data. Hetzner bills by the hour, so you can try it for a day.
Hostinger still wins one case: if you want the lowest possible bill for the next two years and will re-shop at renewal, KVM 2 at $8.99 is cheaper than everything here except Contabo.
Who should switch, and who should stay
- Stay if you are inside your first term. You already paid for it, and Hostinger's intro prices are among the lowest for what's included.
- Switch before renewal if you run one to three small sites and mostly need hosting plus email. Namecheap Stellar and netcup will cost you $4.29 or $2.53 a month instead of $10.99.
- Switch to a VPS if you have outgrown shared hosting anyway. OVHcloud VPS-1 (4 GB, $5.03 a month) costs less than a renewed Premium plan, though you manage the server yourself.
FAQ
What is the cheapest alternative to Hostinger?
On intro price, IONOS Plus at $1.00 a month for the first year, but it renews at $14.00. Over five years the cheapest is netcup Webhosting 1000 at a flat $2.53 a month.
Which host has no renewal increase?
netcup and Hetzner charge the same price at renewal on the plans we track, as do OVHcloud's and Contabo's VPS ranges at the monthly rate. Our guide to why renewals cost more explains how the others price.
Is it hard to move away from Hostinger?
Namecheap and DreamHost list a free migration with their shared plans in our data. netcup and Hetzner do not, so you would copy the site and database yourself or with a plugin.
The bottom line
Hostinger is hard to beat for the first term and easy to beat after it. For shared hosting, netcup ($2.53 flat) and Namecheap Stellar ($4.29 at renewal) cost a fraction of Premium's $10.99. For a VPS, Contabo, OVHcloud and Hetzner all undercut a renewed KVM 2 with twice the CPU.
