hosting.com, the company that used to be A2 Hosting, sells its Starter web hosting plan for $1.99 a month on a 48-month term. It renews at $13.99 a month, seven times the intro price. Pro goes from $3.79 to $19.99, and Max from $7.79 to $27.99.
We checked these prices on 11 October 2026. If you are searching for "A2 Hosting renewal price", these are the current numbers: the A2 name is gone from the price list, and the plans below are what it sells today.
Web hosting: intro vs renewal
The intro price depends on the term you pick. The renewal price does not: every term renews at the plan's regular monthly rate.
| Plan | 12 months | 24 months | 36 months | 48 months | Renews at |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter (5 sites, 15 GB) | $2.99 | $2.79 | $2.49 | $1.99 | $13.99 |
| Pro (10 sites, 50 GB) | $4.99 | $4.79 | $3.99 | $3.79 | $19.99 |
| Max (50 sites, 100 GB) | $9.49 | $8.94 | $7.99 | $7.79 | $27.99 |
Paying month to month skips the discount entirely: Starter is $13.99 from the first month.
Put as a multiple, Starter's renewal is 7.0 times its 48-month price, Pro's is 5.3 times and Max's is 3.6 times. For comparison, Hostinger's Premium plan renews at 3.7 times its intro price, and that already feels steep; see our Hostinger renewal guide.
What you actually pay over time
The intro term is prepaid in one payment, so the cheapest monthly figure also means the largest bill up front.
| Starter plan | Paid at checkout | Cost of the year after renewal |
|---|---|---|
| 12-month term | $35.88 | $167.88 |
| 24-month term | $66.96 | $167.88 |
| 36-month term | $89.64 | $167.88 |
| 48-month term | $95.52 | $167.88 |
Four years of Starter cost $95.52. The fifth year alone costs $167.88 if you let it renew monthly at $13.99. That one renewal year costs more than the first four combined.
The 48-month term is clearly the best value while it lasts: it is only $5.88 more than the 36-month term for an extra year of hosting.
WordPress hosting
hosting.com's WordPress plans follow the same pattern with a 36-month maximum term:
| Plan | 12 months | 36 months | Renews at |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small (1 site, 20 GB) | $4.49 | $3.49 | $9.99 |
| Medium (5 sites, 50 GB) | $4.99 | $3.99 | $17.99 |
| Advanced (15 sites, 100 GB) | $10.99 | $9.49 | $25.99 |
| Turbo (50 sites, 200 GB) | $14.99 | $13.49 | $34.99 |
Medium is the one to look at twice. It costs only 50 cents more than Small on the intro term, but renews $8.00 a month higher. If you have one site, Small's renewal bill is far lower.
Self-managed VPS: the jump is here too
Unmanaged VPS plans at many providers renew at the price you started on. hosting.com's don't:
| Plan | Paid monthly | 36-month term | Renews at |
|---|---|---|---|
| Self Managed Linux 4GB (2 vCPU, 80 GB) | $10.99 | $6.49 | $19.00 |
| Self Managed Linux 8GB (4 vCPU, 160 GB) | $16.99 | $9.99 | $29.00 |
| Self Managed Linux 16GB (8 vCPU, 320 GB) | $28.99 | $17.99 | $49.00 |
| Self Managed Linux 32GB (16 vCPU, 640 GB) | $59.99 | $36.99 | $99.00 |
The monthly price in the second column is itself a first-month discount; from the second month you pay the renewal rate. $19.00 a month for a 4 GB VPS is high: OVHcloud's VPS-1 has 4 GB for $5.03 a month (€4.49) and InterServer's 2-slice VPS is $6.00, both without a price increase.
Managed VPS and cloud servers
The managed cPanel VPS line has the largest dollar gap. The 4 GB plan is $23.20 a month on a 12-month term and renews at $58.00; the 8 GB plan goes from $36.00 to $90.00. The separate Cloud Server line is steadier: the 4 GB server is $36.00 a month on a yearly term and renews at $40.00.
Plans that don't jump
Not everything at hosting.com gets more expensive:
- Reseller hosting renews at the price you paid. Reseller E30 is $18.25 a month on a 12-month term and stays there; paid monthly it is $21.99.
- Dedicated servers keep their price: Dedicated 1 is $189.00 a month on a yearly term.
- Email has a small first-year discount: Pro Email is $2.99 a month for 12 months, then $4.99.
How to pay less at renewal
- Take the longest intro term you are confident about. On Starter, 48 months costs barely more than 36. You can't get the intro price again later.
- Pick the smallest plan that fits. The renewal gap between plans is much bigger than the intro gap: Starter and Pro are $1.80 apart for the first term and $6.00 apart afterwards.
- Set a reminder a month before the term ends. hosting.com has a 30-day money-back window on new purchases in our data, but that doesn't help with a renewal you forgot about. Decide before the charge.
- Compare the renewal against moving. A shared plan that renews at $13.99 a month costs more than many VPS plans. Our Hostinger alternatives post lists hosts whose price stays flat, such as netcup at $2.53 a month.
