The cheapest VPS you can run in an Indian data center is DigitalOcean's Basic 512 MB Droplet at $4.00 a month, billed by the hour. If you need real memory, OVHcloud's VPS-1 has 4 GB of RAM and 2 vCPUs for $5.03 a month (€4.49), and Bluehost's VPS NVMe 2 has 2 GB for $4.99.
We checked these prices on 11 October 2026, at the shortest billing term each provider offers, so nothing in the table needs a long prepayment. Prices billed in euros are converted at the day's rate (about $1.12 per euro).
How we picked these plans
We track 20 hosting providers. Eleven of them list India as a location for at least one VPS or cloud server: DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, AWS Lightsail, OVHcloud, Scaleway, Bluehost, Hostinger, Contabo, hosting.com and Cloudways. We kept unmanaged Linux plans, where you get root access and run the operating system yourself, and sorted them by what one month costs.
Eight providers are missing because they have no Indian location in our data: Hetzner, UpCloud, IONOS, netcup, InterServer, DreamHost, Namecheap and SiteGround. If you were hoping for Hetzner's prices in India, the closest it gets is Singapore.
The 10 cheapest VPS plans in India

"Hourly" means you pay for the hours the server exists, up to the monthly price shown. You can create a server, test it for an afternoon and delete it for a few cents.
The two 512 MB plans are for small jobs: a VPN endpoint, a bot, a cron runner. A WordPress site with a database wants at least 1 GB, and 2 GB is more comfortable.
Most RAM for the money: OVHcloud VPS-1
Nine of the ten plans above have 2 GB of RAM or less. OVHcloud's VPS-1 is the exception: 2 vCPUs, 4 GB of RAM and 40 GB of NVMe storage for €4.49 a month, at a price that stays the same on renewal. Commit to 12 months and it drops to €3.81 a month, about $4.27.
One caveat applies to OVHcloud's Asia-Pacific locations: VPS plans there come with a monthly traffic quota (500 GB on VPS-1, 1 TB on VPS-2), and bandwidth is slowed to 10 Mbps once you pass it. A website or an API will rarely notice. A download server will.
The next size up, VPS-2, has 4 vCPUs and 8 GB for $9.51 a month (€8.49).
Cheapest with 2 GB: Bluehost VPS NVMe 2
Bluehost's smallest self-managed VPS gives you 1 vCPU, 2 GB of RAM and 50 GB of NVMe for $4.99 a month, renewing at $5.99. On a 12-month term it was $3.99 a month when we checked, renewing at $5.69. That is the lowest price in India for 2 GB, as long as you are happy with a monthly or yearly contract rather than hourly billing.
The big clouds at $5 and $6
Vultr, Linode and Lightsail all start at $5.00 a month in India, the same price they charge in the United States and Europe. Vultr and Linode give 1 GB of RAM with 25 GB of SSD and 1 TB of transfer. Lightsail's $5 plan has 2 vCPUs but only 512 MB of RAM; its 1 GB plan is $7.00.
DigitalOcean's 1 GB Droplet is $6.00, and its 2 GB Droplet is $12.00. All four bill by the hour and add extra RAM in the same steps, so they are the easy choice when you expect to resize or run several servers.
Hostinger: cheap on a long term, not month to month
Hostinger's KVM 1 has 1 vCPU, 4 GB of RAM and 50 GB of NVMe. Paid monthly it is $9.99 for the first month and renews at $19.49, which is why it isn't in the table. On a 24-month term the price is $6.49 a month, renewing at $11.99. That is a fair deal for 4 GB if you are sure about the two years, but OVHcloud's VPS-1 has the same RAM for less with no contract. Our Hostinger renewal guide has the full price list.
Plans we left out
- Contabo lists India for its Cloud VPS range (Cloud VPS 4: 4 vCPUs and 8 GB for €5.50 a month). Contabo adds a monthly location fee outside its home region on the order page, and that fee is not in our price data, so we could not rank it fairly.
- Managed servers. Cloudways runs managed servers on DigitalOcean, Vultr and Linode in India from $11.00 a month. You are paying for the management layer, not a cheaper server.
- Windows plans, which cost more because of the license.
