For a server with real memory, netcup's VPS Lite 1 has 2 vCPUs, 4 GB of RAM and 80 GB of SSD for $5.51 (€4.92), and UpCloud's Starter 1 GB is the cheapest conventional cloud server at $3.36 (€3.00).
We checked these prices on 11 October 2026 at the shortest billing term each provider sells. Euro prices are converted at about $1.12 per euro and exclude VAT.
How we picked these plans
Ten of the 20 providers we track list the Netherlands as a location: Scaleway, UpCloud, DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, netcup, Bluehost, Cloudways, Hostinger and SiteGround. The last two offer only managed cloud hosting there, so the ranking below draws on the other eight, with unmanaged Linux plans sorted by the price of one month.
The Netherlands is popular with hosts for a reason: Amsterdam is one of Europe's largest internet exchange points, so a server there is well connected to the UK, Germany, France and the Nordics. Even so, a few big names are missing from our data: Hetzner, OVHcloud, Contabo, IONOS, AWS Lightsail and hosting.com have no Dutch location.

Most RAM for the money: netcup VPS Lite 1
netcup's Lite 1 is the only plan in the table with 4 GB of RAM, and it also has the largest disk: 2 vCPUs, 4 GB and 80 GB of SSD with unmetered traffic for €4.92 a month. The trade-off is the contract. The shortest term is six months, so you pay about €29.50 at a time; the price is the same at renewal.
The next size, Lite 2, has 4 vCPUs, 8 GB and 160 GB for $8.94 (€7.98) in three-month periods. netcup's regular VPS 500 G12.5 (2 vCPUs, 4 GB, 64 GB) costs the same $8.94 paid monthly, or about $6.61 on a 24-month term.
Cheapest cloud server: UpCloud Starter 1 GB
If you want hourly billing and a normal cloud setup, UpCloud's Starter 1 GB is the lowest price: 1 vCPU, 1 GB of RAM and 10 GB of SSD for €3.00 a month, with unmetered traffic in our data. The 2 GB version is $6.72 (€6.00) with a 20 GB disk. UpCloud's Premium line swaps in NVMe storage and a larger disk: 1 GB with 25 GB for $5.60 (€5.00).
The 43-cent server: Scaleway STARDUST1-S
Scaleway's Stardust is the cheapest server we track anywhere, and the Netherlands is one of three countries where it's sold (with France and Poland). It has 1 GB of RAM and a 10 GB disk. Scaleway bills a public IPv4 address separately, so the cost of a server you can reach over IPv4 is higher than €0.43. It's a good fit for a bot, a small proxy or a test box, less so for a website.
Scaleway's DEV1-S, with 2 vCPUs, 2 GB and 20 GB, is $7.34 (€6.55).
Cheapest 2 GB: Bluehost VPS NVMe 2
Bluehost's self-managed VPS NVMe 2 has 2 GB of RAM and 50 GB of NVMe for $4.99 a month, renewing at $5.99. On a 12-month term it was $3.99 a month when we checked, renewing at $5.69. Among plans with at least 2 GB, only netcup's Lite 1 is comparable on price, and Bluehost doesn't need a six-month commitment.
DigitalOcean, Vultr and Linode
All three charge the same in the Netherlands as in their other regions. Vultr and Linode start at $5.00 for 1 GB with 25 GB of SSD and 1 TB of transfer; DigitalOcean's 1 GB Droplet is $6.00. At 2 GB, Vultr is $10.00 and the other two are $12.00. Pick them when you want the same provider in several countries; on price alone, UpCloud and netcup beat them here. - Managed cloud hosting. Hostinger's Cloud Startup is $27.99 paid monthly (or $7.99 a month on a 48-month term, renewing at $25.99), and SiteGround's cloud plans start at $100.00. Cloudways' managed servers start at $11.00.

Netherlands or Germany?
For most European audiences the two are interchangeable on latency, so compare prices in both. Germany adds Hetzner (4 GB for $6.71, hourly) and OVHcloud (4 GB for $5.03, monthly), neither of which has a Dutch location in our data.
