InterServer price lock (2026): does the price ever go up?

InterServer is known for prices that don't rise at renewal. Our data says that's true for most of what it sells, with one important exception on its cheapest web hosting plan. Here is every plan's starting and renewal price.

InterServer price lock (2026): does the price ever go up?
Looking for a plan right now?

Filter all 2,044 plans from 20 providers by price, RAM, storage and location.

Compare all plans

For most InterServer plans the answer is no: the price you start on is the price you renew at. That holds for every VPS, reseller, storage and Boost web hosting plan we track. The exception is the plan most people buy first. Standard Web Hosting starts at $2.50 a month and renews at $7.00, and the cPanel version goes from $2.50 to $8.00.

We checked these prices on 11 October 2026. We track 118 InterServer plans outside its dedicated and GPU servers, and compared the starting price of each with the renewal price in our data.

The short version

Product line Starting price Renews at Price changes?
Standard Web Hosting $2.50 $7.00 Yes, 2.8 times
cPanel Web Hosting $2.50 $8.00 Yes, 3.2 times
Boost 2 / 4 / X Web Hosting $9.95 / $19.95 / $69.95 Same No
Windows ASP.NET Web Hosting $8.00 Same No
Linux VPS, per slice $3.00 Same No
Windows VPS, 2 slices $10.00 Same No
Storage VPS, per TB $3.00 Same No
Reseller RS One to RS Five $19.95 to $69.95 Same No
Storage ST 100 to ST 600 $3.00 to $42.00 Same No
Private Email $2.50, yearly term Same No

So the reputation is deserved, with an asterisk. If you came for the $2.50 web hosting, plan for $7.00.

Standard Web Hosting: $2.50, then $7.00

The Standard plan includes unlimited websites, storage and email accounts, with SSL, backups, migration and a CDN listed in our data. The $2.50 price is an introductory rate; our data shows the same $2.50 intro and $7.00 renewal whether you pick a 1, 6, 12 or 24-month term. The cPanel plan works the same way with an $8.00 renewal.

A $7.00 renewal is still moderate. The median shared plan we track renews at $12.40 a month, and several well-known hosts are higher: Hostinger Premium renews at $10.99, Bluehost Starter at $11.99, hosting.com Starter at $13.99 and SiteGround StartUp at $17.99. What's different about InterServer is that there's no long prepaid term involved. You can pay month to month from the start.

If you want a web hosting plan whose price truly never changes, InterServer's own Boost plans qualify (Boost 2 has 2 CPU cores and 4 GB of RAM for $9.95), as does netcup's Webhosting 1000 at a flat $2.53 (€2.26). Our Hostinger alternatives post compares the flat-price hosts.

VPS: $3.00 per slice, every month

InterServer prices its VPS in slices. Each slice is 2 GB of RAM, 40 GB of SSD and 2 TB of transfer for $3.00 a month, and the price scales in a straight line:

Plan vCPU RAM Storage Price per month Renews at
Linux VPS 1 Slice 1 2 GB 40 GB SSD $3.00 $3.00
Linux VPS 2 Slices 1 4 GB 80 GB SSD $6.00 $6.00
Linux VPS 4 Slices 2 8 GB 160 GB SSD $12.00 $12.00
Linux VPS 8 Slices 4 16 GB 320 GB SSD $24.00 $24.00
Linux VPS 16 Slices 8 32 GB 640 GB SSD $48.00 $48.00

There's no intro discount, no term to choose, and no renewal increase in our data. The plans run up to 32 slices at $96.00. Windows VPS plans cost more because of the license: 2 slices are $10.00 and 4 slices $20.00, also flat.

The 1-slice plan is the cheapest 2 GB VPS we track anywhere; our 2 GB VPS ranking shows what it's up against. From 8 slices up, the plans are listed with managed support in our data rather than as fully self-managed servers.

Storage VPS and storage plans

The Storage VPS line trades SSD for large hard disks at the same per-slice price: 1 TB of disk with 1 vCPU and 2 GB of RAM is $3.00 a month, 2 TB is $6.00 and 4 TB is $12.00, each renewing unchanged. They suit backups and file archives rather than databases.

Separate from VPS, the ST storage plans run from ST 100 (200 GB) at $3.00 to ST 600 (20 TB) at $42.00 a month, again at a flat price.

Reseller hosting

All ten reseller plans we track, five on DirectAdmin and five on cPanel, renew at their starting price: RS One is $19.95 a month, RS Two $29.95, RS Three $39.95, RS Four $49.95 and RS Five $69.95. The cPanel versions limit the number of accounts (20 on RS One); the DirectAdmin versions don't in our data.

What "price lock" does and doesn't cover

Our data shows what InterServer charges today for a new customer and what it lists as the renewal rate. It can confirm that the listed renewal equals the starting price on the plans above. It can't promise what InterServer will charge in five years; for that, read the price-lock wording in InterServer's own terms before you rely on it.

Two practical points follow from the numbers:

  1. The lock applies to the regular price, not the promo. Where there is an intro rate, as on Standard Web Hosting, the renewal is the regular $7.00.
  2. Flat pricing removes the long-term trap. With most hosts, the cheapest monthly figure needs a three or four-year prepayment. InterServer's VPS and Boost prices are the same on a monthly bill, so there is nothing to lock in and nothing to lose by leaving.

How InterServer compares on renewals

Plan Starts at Renews at
InterServer Standard $2.50 $7.00
Namecheap Stellar $1.87, 24 months $4.29
DreamHost Launch $1.99, 48 months $7.99
Hostinger Premium $2.99, 48 months $10.99
hosting.com Starter $1.99, 48 months $13.99
IONOS Plus $1.00, 12 months $14.00

InterServer's renewal is the second lowest in this group, and the only one you reach without prepaying a year or more. One limit to keep in mind: InterServer's VPS plans are hosted in the United States in our data, so they suit North American audiences best.
